Comprised of two-thirds Merlot, one quarter Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc, this 2019 Bordeaux Rouge boasts complex layers of black fruit and oak. The nose exhibits powerful aromas of dark cherry and juicy plum, while earthy notes of smoke and cedar give this red an air of maturity. Tannins are firm and weighty on the palate, contributing to a savory and lingering finish. Château Pontarnaud recently celebrated its 20th anniversary of producing top-shelf Bordeaux reds, though the vineyard’s history dates back much further. The land borders Rauzan, a district occupied by the English for decades until the end of the Hundred Years War.
