Bold reds join forces in this 2020 Red Blend from Utiel-Requena, specially bottled to commemorate 40 years of Wine Insiders providing top-quality vinos and viticulture education. Deep red with burgundy hues in the glass, this red wine expresses complex aromas of black fruit and rich earth. On the palate, layers of red berry mingle with secondary notes of vanilla and toasted spice to round out a long, robust finish. This Bobal-dominant blend hails from the Utiel-Requena region, located just west of Valencia. The soils here are deep and rich, producing some of the most excellent young and aged wines all around the Mediterranean. The high-altitude vineyards and relatively short growing season result in a robust tannin structure perfectly suited for enthusiasts seeking a bit more complexity in their next bottle of red. This 40th Anniversary Red Blend is an ideal accompaniment to rich meat dishes like roast lamb, barbeque chicken, and chili con carne as well as a decadent charcuterie board of semi-hard Spanish cheeses.
