Perfect for warm weather, 2023 Cala De' Poeti Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie DOC, is a classically crisp and refreshing white wine from Italy. Instantly eye-catching, this dry Pinot Grigio is straw yellow with greenish reflections in the glass. On the nose, a fresh and elegant bouquet of apple, peach, and hawthorn notes entice. The palate is zesty and clean with citrus fruits and hints of minerality, while thirst-quenching acidity satisfies on the finish. Pinot Grigio grapes were grown in Delle Venezie DOC, which spans the regions of Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige in Northern Italy. Vineyards are nourished by cool mountain breezes that impart grapes with fresh acidity. This wine is presented by Castellani, an award-winning winery based in Tuscany. Since 1903, the Castellani family has crafted traditional wines while embracing the latest innovations in winemaking. For Piergiorgio Castellani, “the quality of the wine begins in the vineyard.” His devotion to the land is evident in his home’s location: nestled in the center of one of the family vineyards. The labels on Castellani’s Cala de’ Poeti line of wines feature beautiful reproductions of oil paintings created at an artist residency on the family’s Ceppaiano Estate. Best served ice cold, 2023 Cala De' Poeti Pinot Grigio Delle Venezie DOC is great for sipping on its own. It also pairs well to fish tacos, crab cakes, risotto, and grilled artichokes.
