The risography is not only incredibly beautiful, but also one of the most environmentally friendly printing processes: the ink is based on soybean oil and the master foils are made from hemp fibers. In addition, the Riso requires only a fraction of the energy of a digital printing press. Risography is a stencil printing process that works similarly to screen printing. This means that one print run takes place per color. For this purpose, a master film, similar to the screen in screen printing, is stretched onto the ink drum, which then applies the ink to the paper in a rotating movement.

Risography is not a printing process like digital printing: the machine is idiosyncratic and makes perfect, imperfect prints. This includes a certain offset and a varying application of paint. But that is exactly what makes the special aesthetics and each print unique.
