Gold Dust Molly

The Gold Dust Lyretail Molly, Poecilia latipinna comes from freshwaters in the southeastern United States. Its scientific name means “varied” (poikilos) and “wide fin” (latipinna), which fits this fish perfectly. These mollies grow to about 2.5–3 inches long and have a sturdy body that’s easy to spot in your tank.

What makes them truly special is their golden faces and darker bodies with tiny bright spots covering their sides like stardust. Males show off a long, lyre shaped tail that waves gently as they swim, while females have a softer version of the same fin.
