Laphroaig Triple Wood is an Islay single malt created through a triple maturation — first in ex-bourbon barrels, second in quarter casks, and third in European oak casks previously used for Oloroso sherry, producing a unique blend of Laphroaig’s signature peat-smoked liquid with softer notes of fruit and spices and a creamy consistency.

Triple Wood is an extension of the Quarter Cask expression — the quarter cask’s intense and concentrated bourbon wood extraction is followed by a third maturation in Oloroso European oak, adding the dried fruit, walnut, and warming sherry character to the established peat smoke and vanilla quarter cask profile. The three-stage process produces a powerful yet creamy consistency with full and satisfying character. Browse the full Scotch whisky collection at Wooden Cork.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Triple Wood compare to the Quarter Cask expression?

Quarter Cask uses ex-bourbon and then quarter cask for the concentrated bourbon and wood character on the peat smoke base. Triple Wood adds the third stage of Oloroso sherry European oak, contributing dried fruit and sherry sweetness for a softer, creamier, and more complex result than the Quarter Cask alone.
