This straight rye is one of the oldest ryes currently available on the market, and it is doubly unusual for having a mash bill that is 100% rye. If you love rye whiskey, this will be something truly special to savor. The aging takes place in new charred American oak barrels, and it serves to mellow out some of the heat and spice that are usually associated with a straight rye. But don’t let that give you the impression this juice is mellow; instead, a complex mix of flavors emerges, supported by notes of hot gingerbread and peaches, pecans and tobacco. A remarkably long finish completes this flavorful, intense bottle.
