Tasting Notes: The nose brings golden honey, baked apples, toasted oak, delicate rye spice, and clove. The taste starts with a blast of minty rye spice, followed by caramel and fresh rye bread. The finish is notably long with intriguing notes of orange curacao, leaving hints of mint and soft spice.
About: They age their barrels along the winding bluffs of the Mississippi River in Memphis, Tennessee. The Delta heat and humidity provided by the long, hot summers cook their barrels low and slow like proper Memphis BBQ. This forces the whiskey deep into the oak, creating an unmistakably rich flavor.
Riverset is named in honor of the Mississippi River and the iconic riverboats that have long since navigated its waters. Historically, these riverboats were used to transport cumbersome barrels of whiskey from the hinterlands to the cities. In fact, so much whiskey was transported on the river in the nineteenth century that the Mississippi became known as the “Whiskey River.”
