In your glass, Medellin 8 Años displays a brilliant shade of golden amber. A bouquet of sweet caramel, oaken vanilla and cane appear briefly before heavier sweet aromas fill your nose, with scents of caramelized maple sugar, thick pie crust, a mild earthiness like leather. The initial taste is drier on entry than the aromas would lead you to expect, more like honey and nuts, adding a complex turn from the carmelized sugar sweetness of the nose. Mild spiciness like nutmeg, some clean fresh oak woodiness and dry thin leather are also apparent. Body weight is medium-light but well structured, fully appropriate for the flavors, while the finish is subtle with a slightly dry understated lingering sweetness.
