  • Antique Nippon Teacup & Saucer, Hand Painted Strawberries, Gold Moriage, Teacup Collectors, Drinkware, Teawares, Tea Party, Tea Lovers, Gift Ideas, (Discontinued)
  • Made in Japan
  • Antique:  early 20th Century, prior to 1921
  • Details:  This is a lovely, fine porcelain, teacup and matching saucer.  It is hand painted with strawberries and flowers.  The colors are bright and the different tones of green really make it stand out.  Both pieces have an exquisite, beaded, raised gold rim, the cup has a gold detail on the handle.  They are made of very fine porcelain, very translucent.  We have reviewed the back stamp and believe this to be true, original Nippon, please note:  The leaf in the original mark is only about 1/4" wide.  All lines in the old mark are solid and heavy, not thin weak lettering.  Notice too in the pictures, the artist left his/her own "shadow-mark" on both the cup and the saucer.  However, we are not experts, please review all pictures and make your own determination.  We think it would be pure pleasure to drink coffee or tea from this fine cup, to indulge yourself in something beautiful.  If you're a teacup collector, this will be a fine addition to your collection. What a great gift this would be!
  • Materials:  Porcelain
  • Dimension:  Saucer is 5.75 inches in Diameter.  The cup is 3.5 inches in Diameter at top opening, and 1.75 inches Diameter at foot, and is 2.25 inches Tall.
  • Condition:  Vintage - Used.  Excellent Condition. There are no cracks, chips, or visible scratches on either piece.  Even the gold looks in great condition.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show any scratches, wear and imperfections.

We understand that the Nippon maple leaf mark is by the Japanese trading company Morimura Bros (later Noritake) used from 1891 to 1911.  These may be green, blue like ours, or magenta.  Also, there is no high gloss on this set, a high gloss finish is a sign that it would be a reproduction.  Although versions of the Maple Leaf mark were later copied, the reproductions didn’t come into to market until the 1970s? 80s? so given your dates, this is likely genuine.
