They say revenge is a dish best served cold. Tool served it with heavy guitars and piano flair.Back in the early ’90s, I was just Francesco Sonoyo—an Italian guy crashing at a friend-of-a-friend’s place in LA. Things went south fast: fridge raids, phone bills, and one epic eviction. I left a voicemail. A very… expressive one.Fast-forward to 1996: Tool’s Ænima hits shelves. Hidden among the masterpieces is “Message to Harry Manback”—my voice, edited, looped, and immortalized. I became “Harry Manback,” the curse of the answering machine. Maynard, Danny, the whole band turned my rage into art. I had no clue for almost two decades. When I finally discovered it? Mind blown. Then I laughed. Then I wrote this book.In The Legend of Harry Manback, Frankie Sonoyo (that’s me in Italian mode) and Francesco Sonoyo (international edition) tell the real story: the LA chaos, the Green Jellÿ connections, the slow-burn realization, the “curse” that followed, and how one furious message accidentally made me part of Tool lore forever.Dark humor, rock absurdity, zero filters. If you’ve ever yelled at an ex-roommate and wished it went viral… this one did.Read it. Then go listen to track #6 again. You’ll never hear it the same way. Read more
