Witness the quiet intensity as a colossal silver king glides just beneath the surface, suspended in a moment of tranquil vulnerability. It's for these elusive, "laid-up" tarpon that Umpqua's Laid-Up Tarpon Flies were meticulously crafted. Conceived by Rick, this fly solves the unique challenge of enticing fish in a relaxed state, where a clumsy splash means instant dismissal. Its bushy, over-hackled profile further aids in an impossibly gentle touchdown and a near-glacial sink rate, allowing for the deliberate, slow strip presentation that teases a bite without diving out of view. This inherent motion keeps the fly dancing tantalizingly in the strike zone, a feat traditional, sparser patterns simply can't achieve.
